A-2 TERRITORIAL JURISDICTION
A-2-1 DEFINITIONS
Unless the context specifically indicates, the meaning of the terms used in this ordinance shall be as follows:
A. “Territorial jurisdiction” shall mean all areas within the corporate limits, all land owned by the City, and all places within one (1) mile outside the corporate limits of the City or within one (1) mile of any public ground or campground owned by the City.
A-2-2 PURPOSE
The purpose of this chapter is to identify the corporate limits of the City of Fort Pierre, Stanley County, South Dakota, while setting forth applicable boundaries to aid in the determination of jurisdiction concerning the enforcement of City ordinances and resolutions and to clarify zoning jurisdictional area.

A-2-3 TERRITORIAL JURISDICTION
For the purposes of promoting the health, safety, morals and general welfare of the community, and of enforcing its ordinances and resolutions relating thereto, the territorial jurisdiction of the City includes all areas within the corporate limits, as defined in A‑1-2, all land owned by the City and all places within one (1) mile outside the corporate limits of the City or the boundaries of City-owned land.
This jurisdiction shall not, however, extend to areas within the corporate limits of any other legally incorporated and functioning municipality.
Any prohibitions contained in these ordinances against acts or omissions within this City or within the corporate limits of the City shall also extend throughout the territorial jurisdiction of this City.
