Fort Pierre Tree Lighting Postponed
Until Friday, December 4th!
FORT PIERRE, SD – Fort Pierre Development Corporation (FPDC) was informed Friday that the equipment provided by A-G-E Construction of Fort Pierre is tied up in other construction projects in and out of town and won’t be available until late this week. This will not make it possible for the City crew to get the big tree decorated in time for the planned November 27th Christmas Tree Lighting.
Therefore, FPDC has postponed the Christmas Tree Lighting until Friday, December 4th, with plans to bring the large blue spruce donated by Scott Hipple to Fort Pierre on Monday, November 30th. The tree will be placed in its usual location, the manhole at the intersection of Main Avenue and Deadwood Street that was designed for that purpose.
The Bad River Bridge Lighting planned to coincide with the Christmas Tree Lighting has been postponed due to covid concerns of Lumenpulse, the company providing the lighting system. They had planned to have an employee come to Fort Pierre to train City employees on how to run the control panel. When this has been done a new date for the pedestrian bridge lighting will be planned.
