Public Works Department is marking trees that need trimmed with orange ribbon

The occupant/owner of any private premises, abutting on any public street, road, or alley within the City shall keep all trees standing upon such premises or between the same and the center of the adjoining street, road, or alley trimmed so no branch is lower than ten (10) feet above the surface of the street, road, or alley and eight (8) feet over any sidewalk. Remember to keep all such trees trimmed so that no trunk, limb, or branch should come in contact with any street   lighting, power, or other electrically charged wire when such wires are lawfully strung on posts located on any public street, road, or alley or between the lot lines and curb of any street.   Diseased or dead trees are also determined to be a public nuisance and are required to be removed. Refer to City ordinance section L for more detail. The Public Works Department will be marking trees with an orange ribbon around the base of the tree.  If you have any questions please feel free to contact the office at 605-223-7690 and ask for Willie or Rick.
