B-2 OFFICE OF MAYOR

B-2-1 PURPOSE

The purpose of this chapter is to establish the chief executive officer of the City of Fort Pierre, his qualifications, and matters relating to succession in such office.

B-2-2 MAYOR

The chief executive officer of the City of Fort Pierre shall be the Mayor.

B-2-3 QUALIFICATIONS AND SUCCESSIONS IN OFFICE OF MAYOR

A. The Mayor of the City of Fort Pierre shall be a citizen of the United States, and must be a registered voter residing in Fort Pierre.

B. The term of office for the Mayor of the City of Fort Pierre shall be two (2) years.

C. If the Mayor of the City of Fort Pierre is disabled or for any reason is unable to act in that capacity, the powers and duties of the office of Mayor shall be assumed by the President of the City Council. If the disability or inability to act is of a permanent nature, an election shall be held for the unexpired term at the next annual municipal election.

D. If the President of the City Council of the City of Fort Pierre is disabled or for any reason is unable to act in that capacity, the powers and duties of the office of President shall be assumed by the Vice-President of the City Council.
